This year again, was held the European Open source & Free Software Law Event, in European Parliament of Brussels.

The EOLE has been initiated by lawyers working in open source software (OSS) companies, and as such very keen on open source business issues.

This annual event aims to present the latest legislative evolutions, and gather legal experts to discuss the legal issues at hand in oss businesses: intellectual property management, contractual uses, licences compatibility, choice of licence and associated business models, etc.

While EOLE primarily attracts lawyers, it also aims to help projects managers, developers or simple users, to understand the requirements and added value of OSS and decide on the best development strategy for their personal or professional activities.

As an open source independant software editor, Petals Link has been meeting these issues on a daily basis, hence coming to this event to learn and share.

This second edition of EOLE was rich, exploring a large spectrum of questions with recognized experts presenting their reflexions. Amongst the main topics, was the licences compatibility, summarized by Benjamin Jean in a cross-table, and legal terminology.

For more information, visit the official EOLE website. The slides of the event will soon be available.
